สถานเอกอัครราชทูตสหรัฐอเมริกาประจำประเทศไทย ร่วมกับสถานกงสุลใหญ่สหรัฐอเมริกา เชียงใหม่ ขอเชิญชมนิทรรศการ “City of Angels” งานภาพถ่ายดิจิตอลซึ่งเป็นงานบันทึกเชิงสังคมและวัฒนธรรมเปรียบเทียบระหว่างกรุงเทพมหานคร ประเทศไทย และ Los Angeles ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา โดย Curtis McElhinney ช่างภาพอิสระ ในโครงการ Visual Arts Initiative ของกระทรวงการต่างประเทศสหรัฐฯ ซึ่งผันตัวเองจากงานภาพถ่ายเชิงพาณิชย์มาทำงานเชิงวิจิตรศิลป์ และมุ่งเน้นงานภาพถ่ายและสารคดีเพื่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางสังคม นิทรรศการชุดดังกล่าวได้รับการสนับสนุนจากสำนักงานการท่องเที่ยวแห่งประเทศไทยให้ไปจัดแสดงที่ Los Angeles ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา ในเดือนพฤศจิกายนนี้ Curtis McElhinney ยังได้รับรางวัล Best Amazing Thailand – Amazing Value จากสำนักงานการท่องเที่ยวแห่งประเทศไทยจากผลงานการถ่ายทำเกี่ยวกับประเทศไทย นิทรรศการ “City of Angels” จะจัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 15 – 24 กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2554 ณ ศูนย์การค้าเซ็นทรัลพลาซา เชียงใหม่ แอร์พอร์ต โซน Northern Village ชั้น 2โดยพิธีเปิดนิทรรศการจะมีขึ้นในวันที่ 15 กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2554 นี้ เวลา 17.00 น.
Curtis McElhinney เดินทางมา จ. เชียงใหม่ ในครั้งนี้ จะยังได้มีโอกาสบันทึกภาพความงดงามของสถานที่ ผู้คน และวัฒนธรรมล้านนา เพื่อถ่ายทอดสู่สายตาชาวโลก พร้อมทั้งพบปะและขยายเครือข่ายกับศิลปินในท้องถิ่น และจะมีการจัดอบรมการถ่ายภาพเชิงสารคดีเพื่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงสังคมสำหรับนักศึกษาและผู้สนใจ ณ มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ อีกด้วย

เคอร์ติส แมคเคลฮินนี (Curtis McElhinney)
นายเคอร์ติส แมคเคลฮินนีเป็นชาวอเมริกัน จบการศึกษาหลักสูตรวิทยาศาสตรบัณฑิต สาขาวิชาการตลาดธุรกิจ จากมหาวิทยาลัย Southern California ในปี พ.ศ. 2535 อาชีพแรกของเขาหลังสำเร็จการศึกษาคือทำงานในแผนกจัดซื้อและแผนกโฆษณาในห้างสรรพสินค้า Robinsons-May

Curtis McElhinney
American born Curtis McElhinney graduated from the University of Southern California in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing. His first occupation upon graduation was working in the corporate buying offices and in advertising for the department store Robinsons-May.
In 1997, he moved from retail advertising to freelance photography. His photography career began by assisting various photographers as he began to build his portfolio. Since that time he has assisted, produced and photographed in nearly every genre of photography that exists. His production experience includes producing movie poster shoots for Pirates of the Caribbean II, Green Lantern, John Carter of Mars and The Immortals. His photography includes images of Mickey Rooney, Kenny G, Gerald Wilson and other notable musicians. Some of his clients include: Fox Searchlight, Paramount Studios, Six Degrees Records, Mack Avenue Records, Life on Wilshire, Mark’s Restaurant, Reader’s Digest, Chip & Pepper Jeans, ETA Advertising and Driven Communications.
Five years ago Curtis shifted his emphasis from commercial photography to fine art photography with an emphasis on social justice. Since that time, he has worked with a non-profit in Lima, Peru to produce his first documentary on the fight against tuberculosis and is now in production on his second full-length documentary on the fight against human trafficking. By utilizing his work to inform the public and create a spotlight on the people who are attempting to make a difference, he hopes that his work creates a positive impact on society to foster a sense of community and social responsibility.
